Died Last Night
Ralph Ballenger Died at His Home on Maple Street
Ralph Ballenger, age 48, World War veteran, died at his home at the corner of Washington and Maple streets at 10:30 o'clock last night, of heart disease and complications.
He had been in failing health for several months and was taken to the veterans hospital in Indianapois a few weeks ago for treatment, and then was returned home. He had been in a coma for four days and death was expected.
He was born November 24, 1892, in Liberty township and attended the schools in Sharpsville. He served overseas during the World War and was a member of the American Legion. He also was a member of the Sharpsville Masonic Lodge and had attended Purdue University.
He enlisted in the army September 21, 1917, and was a member of Battery C, 325 Field Artillery, taking his training at Camp Taylor. He was sent overseas in September, 1917.
Survivors include the wife and several children. The body was taken to the Ogle and Little funeral home for preparation. Funeral arrangements had not been completed.
