ALBERT R. VAN DERWERKEN

Central Bridge (Schoharie County): Albert R. Van Derwerken 101, of Central Bridge died Saturday, February 8th at Ellis Hospital, after a brief illness.

Albert was born November 13, 1912 in the Town of Carlisle, a son of Edgar and Ethel (Hamm) Van Derwerken. He was educated at Grosvenor's Corners School prior to his time spent as a dairy farmer with his father until 1974. He married Frances (Putnam) Van Derwerken on August 24, 1946 cherishing over sixty-one years of marriage before her passing on February 5, 2008.

Mr. Van Derwerken was a former Trustee at the Sloansville Valley Cemetery; he was also a proud member of the Central Bridge United Methodist Church, the former Odd Fellows Lodge in Central Bridge, and the former Schoharie Valley Grange.

Survivors of Albert include several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Donald Van Derwerken, Leora Smith, and Alma Bray.

As per Albert's wishes, there will be a graveside service in the Sloansville Valley Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Van Derwerken to the Sloansville Valley Cemetery, 139 Van Derwerken Rd., Central Bridge, NY.
