Race driver. His racing name was "Ed Elisian" and he was nicknamed "Smoky." He is remembered for stopping his car during the 1955 Indianapolis 500 and running to the scene of friend Bill Vukovich Sr.'s accident. He also lost control of his car in the 3rd turn of the first lap of the 1958 Indianapolis 500, triggering a series of crashes that resulted in the death of Pat O'Connor. Elisian lost his life in a fiery crash in the first turn during the 28th lap of the 1959 Milwaukee 200 race.
