Robert K. Hudelson, for more than forty years, a farmer in Blue Mound township, died at 10 olcok Monday morning in his home southwest of Decatur. While he had been in failing health for more than six months his death, due to heart trouble was unexpected.

Funeral services Sunday afternoon at 3 oclock will be Blue Mound chapel of which he had been a member for years. Burial will be in the family burial ground on the farm.

To the families residing in Macon county during the last two generations the Hudelson family and the old homestead are well known. During all of the years of his active life Robert Hudelson was one of the foremost, aggressive men of his community, always regarded as one of the men who advocated only those policies which he lived brought the greatest good to the greatest number. He was a Democrat in polities but even his keenest partizan opponent knew that when he was opposed by"Bob"Hudelson only fair means would be employed.

He was a member of Dunham post GAR having served an enlistment with Co. K, 53, Ind. Vol. and in the post he was a general favorite. He was a boy when he enlisted declared Post commander W. F.Calhoun, only 16 if I remember right but he saw the elephant before he got through. All of the boys did that served the last years of the war for it was then that much of the real fighting was done. In Dunham post Bob Hudelson was a favorite. He was good company and everyone liked him.

Robert Hudelson was born August 9, 1848 in Orange county Ind and was living there when he enlisted in the 53rd Indiana Infantry in 1863. He came to Macon county in 1870 and Dec. 24, 1874 was married to Miss Mary Elizabeth Mier of Decatur, her death occurred in 1888. Of her children there are still living Mrs. Mina Miller, Mrs. Bertha Smith and K. H.Hudelson of S.Wheatland, Mrs.Clara Wornick Pana, Mrs. Anna Ross, Blue Mound township, Will H. Hudelson, Newkirk, Okla, Grover Hudelson,Forsyth another daughter Anna .E.Stickel died in 1919.
