In 1865, with his parents, he came to Missouri and located in Buchanan Co., later moving to Island City, in Gentry Co. On June 27, 1874, he was married to Nancy Stuart. To this union three children were born, all of whom are living. They are as follows: Minnie A. Russell, King City, Mo.; Jessie I. Gillett, Union Star, Mo., and Maudie Gillett, Los Angeles, Cal. On October 22, 1893, he confessed his faith in Christ and united with the church at Island City. He later transferred his membership to Stanberry. He was a splendid neighbor, a good man and many will mourn his going. He leaves to mourn his loss, the wife and three children mentioned above, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters, as follows: Isaac, Charles E., and Lewis E., all of Stanberry; Clement D., Mrs. Martha Gurdike, both of King City; Mrs. Sarah A. Standlea of Rocky Ford, Colo., and Jacob P. of Barney, Okla., besides other relatives and friends.
