The Tribune (Scranton, Pennsylvania) 11 Apr 1906-- Gilbert M. Arnold, a veteran of the civil war, died at 12:30 yesterday afternoon from a paralytic stroke. Deceased was seventy-two years of age and has been a resident of Jerymn for the the past seventeen years. He is survived by his wife and a son, who is at the Soldiers school. Funeral arrangements have not been been completed but interment will be made at Brown Hollow.
The Tribune (Scranton, Pennsylvania) 12 Apr 1906-- The funeral of Gilbert M. Arnold, the old veteran who died Tuesday afternoon after only a few hours' sickness will take place this afternoon. A short service will be held at the house at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. O. W. Cook, pastor of the Baptist church, after which the remains will be taken to Montdale, where Rev. Mr. Cook will conduct service in the Baptist church. The following, the first four of whom are veterans of the civil war, will act as pall bearers here: Alonza Whitley, James Nicholson sr., James Shields, Stephen E. Miller, Edwin Graves and Silas B. Hills. At Montdale, members of the Grand Army of the Republic will meet the cortege.
