Townsend Kemp was born in Consecon, Hillier Tp., Prince Edward County, Ontario & died in Cramahe Tp., Northumberland County, Ontario of Typhoid fever at the age of 41 years. He was the son of John Cook Kemp (1800-1887) and Jane Herrington (1808-1876) who are also buried in the Carrying Place Cemetery. Townsend was a United Empire Loyalist descendant. Townsend married Mary Jane Huycke (1845-1932) on Jan. 1 1862 in Consecon. Mary Jane was the daughter of John C. Huycke & Margaret Clement. Mary Jane died in Proctor, St. Louis, Minnesota.
