***Clark was born on a farm in the Ozark mountains of Missouri and the family raised tobacco. Clark started smoking Circa 1920, age 8. As an adult he was a heavy smoker until about 1960. He sang and yodeled and got where he was having trouble talking, so quit cold. He carried an open package in his tee shirt pocket for nearly a year to prove he was stronger than the temptation of the cigarettes.
Clark was a master craftsman, building custom built homes in Iowa and Colorado. He was well known for the quality built homes, his friendly manner, his honesty and dependability.
Clark had 5 children; all college graduates. From those children there are 10 grandchildren, including 2 sets of twins, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Clark inherited the Coberly travel lust. He loved to travel! He and Thelma visited Alaska, where daughter Carlla was married, Australia, New Zealand, Somalia, Christmas Island, Hawaii (3 times), Mexico, all the countries in South America, and all but 5 states here at home.
His other passion was Hillbilly type music. He played the guitar, banjo and old time fiddle, and he yodeled. Before moving to Colorado, he played and sang with Tom Owens Cowboys on WMT radio in Cedar Rapids, and several dance bands. There were many jam sessions at his home in Englewood, he organized THE RHYTHM RAMBLERS, with Ed Henson, Mike Ribar, Floyd Agee and Bart Trujillo and they played at different functions and at nursing homes in the Metro area. Clark entered many fiddle contests, was Colorado Fiddle Champion three years in a row and played at the WORLDS FAIR in Tennessee in 1982.
He and Thelma organized the COBERLY NATIONAL REUNION held in Salina, Kansas in 1983 that is still active today. Sadly after the second reunion Clark passed away with cancer. After cremation his ashes were interred near Denver in the Colorado mountains that he so loved.
