Professional Baseball Player. Carroll played for eight seasons in the major leagues, 1884 until 1891. He played catcher and outfielder for four different teams. His longest stint was with the Pittsburgh Alleghenys (1885-1889). He played in 754 games, had 27 home runs with 366 runs batted in. He was the first Pittsburgh player to hit for the cycle. His pet monkey was the unofficial mascot for the Pittsburgh Alleghenys and was buried beneath the home plate at Pittsburgh's Recreation Park. According to MLB records he was cremated.
