Harry P. Carper Sr. 76, of 217 16th St. Huntingdon, died Wednesday, March 22, 1995, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. (12:09 p.m.)
He was born Sept 19, 1918 in Huntingdon Furnace, the son of the late George E. and Sara E. (Gross) Carper. He was twice married. First to Alice L. Weaver, who died Jan 22, 1989. He then married Sylvia A. (Lohr) Baker.
Mr. Carper retired from Boyle Ice Plant, Huntingdon, and was self-employed hauler of coal, wood and scrap metal.
He was an Army veteran of World War II serving with the 101st Airborne.
Mr. Carper was a member and past commander of Frank P. Hommon Post American Legion and Standing Stone Post VFW, both in Huntingdon. Surviving are his wife, five daughters; Leona Flick, Peg Garber and Sarah Miller all of Huntingdon, Anna Grace Hegland of Levittown and Shirley Baumgardner of Gettsburg; two sons: Harry P. Jr. of Strodes Mills and Willard of Huntingdon; two brothers: Willard of Mill Creek and William of Huntingdon; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, by the Rev Steven E. Crile. Interment at Burket Cemetery, Warriors Mark.
