Mr. Upton died March 15, 2006, at his home. He was born Dec. 30, 1920, in
Marshfield, the son of John and Sarah Lucinda Upton.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He
was a machinist and foreman at Gerlingers Steel for 19 years. He moved to
Shasta County, Calif., from Pacoima, Calif.
Mr. Upton is survived by daughters, Susan Dayton and her husband, Hugh, of
Carmichael, Calif., and Linda Haughton and her husband, Jeffrey, of
Redding, Calif.; one grandson, Stacey McCall and his wife, Kristine, of
Sacramento, Calif.; two granddaughters, Terri Garrison and her husband,
Sean, and Jennifer Bruce and her husband, Kevin, all of Redding, Calif.;
four great-grandsons, Cody Smithson, Wyatt Smithson, Matthew Garrison and
Logan Bruce; two great-granddaughters, Erika McCall and Katelyn Bruce; one
sister, Elva Fitch, of Hesperia, Calif.; special niece, Joyce Nyati of
Alamo, Calif.,; special nephew, Jerry Upton of Fairfield, Calif.; and many
more nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margret, and one grandson, Samuel
Aaron McCall III.
