Mildred E. (Schroff) Wood

Mildred E.(Schroff) Wood, 80, of 65439 Bremen Highway,
Bremen, IN., passed away after a brief illness on Saturday evening, Dec. 18.
On Sept 12, 1919, she was born in her family's home on
Lawrence Street, Mishawaka, IN.. She was a member of the
1938 graduation class at Mishawaka High School. She was
a past member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Mishawaka and the Disable American Veterans in South Bend, IN..
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Myrtle Schroff; a brother, Sonny Schroff; and by a sister, Garnet Ringle.
On June 6, 1943, in the First United Methodist Church
of Mishawaka, she married Robert C. Wood, who survives.
She is also survived by her brother, Roger Schroff
Her proudest achievement in life was being the mother
of eleven children and grandmother to 39 grandchildren
and several great-grandchildren. She is survived by six
sons, Robert E., Ricky and Ross, all of Mishawaka, Roger
(Beverly), Rodney (Vickie) and Robin (Leann), all of
South Bend; five daughters, Kay (Gail) Kahlenbeck,
April (Ronald) Mitts and Spring (David) Renes, all of Mishawaka, Rae (Dennis) Beehler of Wakarusa, IN.,
and Lisa (Matthew) Zimmer of South Bend.
Even near death Millie continued to display her wonderful sense of humor. That sense of humor and her laughter will be missed.
There will be a one hour visitation prior to a memorial service at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, in the Bubb
Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka.
Pastor Larry Shutske of the Agape Fellowship in Bremen
will conduct the service. She will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN..
In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice House of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN. 46637.
