Mrs. Schafer had been employed as a nursing aid at Wesley Gardens in Des Moines.
She was born Dec. 2, 1941, in Bellevue. She lived in Pacific about 13 years before moving to Sumner in 1983.
She is survived by her husband, James Schafer of Sumner, a son, Todd Walder of Sumner; a daughter, Angela Kay Lodwick of Maple Valley; two brothers, Phillip Alf of Draper, Utah, and Darryl Alf of Auburn; four sisters, Janet Barnes and Louise Marsh, both of Auburn, Susan Odell of Federal Way, and Sylvia Jones of Port Orchard; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Price-Helton Funeral Chapel in Auburn.
The family suggests remembrances be to the American Cancer Society.
