Officer Hedgepeth served with the Louisville Division of Police from 1926 until his death. On February 10, 1942, he and Officer Thomas W. Kinney were struck and killed by a drunk driver. They were directing traffic at the scene of a fire at Jackson and Main Sts.
He was survived by a wife.
