Joey Coleman Dodson Sr. passed away June 17, 2010.
Visitation will begin at 12 p.m., followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Mo. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.
The family suggests contributions to the Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Missouri.
Joey was born September 30, 1930, in Eudora, Missouri, to Harry and Margaret Dodson. He was a machine operator for Westinghouse for 10 years until their closure in Kansas City and then he worked in the maintenance department of the Kansas City Star Newspaper, retiring in 1997. He had been a foster parent and enjoyed participating in activities of the Jolly Lamplighters, Fairmount Community Center, Palmer Senior Citizens Center and Fairmount Christian Church and was an avid Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Joey was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Kathren Dodson, JC Dodson and one brother, Harry Lee Dodson.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of over 60 years, Junanita Dodson; children and their spouses, Joey C. Dodson Jr. and his wife Peggy, Sandra Dodson, Larry Dodson and his wife Linda, Michael Dodson and his wife Carmen, Sharon Heinrichs and her husband Raymond; grandchildren, Michelle Dodson, Kara Dodson, Pamela Davis, Idamae Dodson, Stella Dodson, Larry Joe Dodson, Joshua Dodson, Abigail Nicholson, William Coleman Dodson, Chad Dodson, Theresia Dodson, Nicholas Heinrichs, Jennifer Heinrichs, Jessica Heinrichs; great grandchildren, Annette Dodson, Faith Dodson, Sophia Nicholson, Lennox Noble, Jack Heinrichs; brother, Bernard Dodson and sister, Dale Thompson.
