Joseph "Buddy" Edward Hickox, 69, of Nahunta died suddenly Friday evening (June 18, 2010)at his residence.

Born in Nahunta, GA his parents are Myrtle Knox Hickox and the late Dewey Hickox. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Hickox.

Buddy was a heavy equipment operator with Brunswick Pulp Mill and a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church. He loved fishing, gardening and was with the Sheriff auxiliary.

Survivors include his wife, Nell Hickox of Nahunta; 4 children and their spouses, Danette & William Wainright, Martha & Carroll Vaughn, Teresa & Scott "Mort" Highsmith all of Hickox and Lisa & David Trowell of Alma; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeanne & Josh Cothren of Nahunta, Samantha Wainright of Hickox, Dustin & Stephanie Morrison of Riverside Community, Crista & Steven Gibson of Winokur, Stetson & Dalson Vaughn of Hickox, Lofton Highsmith of Hickox, Austin & Angel Highsmith of Hickox, Houston Trowell, Tyler Trowell and Kaytlin Trowell all of Alma; 8 great grandchildren; his mother, Myrtle Knox Hickox of Hickox; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, David & Sue Hickox and Glenn & Cheryl Hickox all of Hickox; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtis & David Haney and Linda & Ken Bishop all of Hickox; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening (June 20, 2010) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Monday morning (June 21, 2010) at 10AM at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Wainright and Rev. Edward Colley officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Hickox.

Pallbearers will be Randall Hickox, Michael Haney, Billy Hickox, Landon Hickox, Keith Bishop and Stetson Vaughn.
