Mrs Delores L Steinhorst, of Baraboo passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Meadow Ridge Assisted Living in Baraboo. The daughter of Ewald and Elizabeth (Henke) Gurgel was born March 16, 1930 in Reedsburg. Delores was married to Henry A Steinhorst on August 30, 1952 at St John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo.
Delores worked for many years as a cook for St John's Lutheran School and also UW-Baraboo. She was a longtime member of St John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo and a loyal member of Ladies Division D. She enjoyed regularly attending her kids' sporting events. some of her other passions were gardening, being outdoors and the Brewers. She will be remembered for being a great baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry on July 3, 1998; two brothers; and three sisters.
Delores is survived by her four children, Robert (Ruth) of West Baraboo, John (Marcia) of West Baraboo, Tom (Linda) of Baraboo and Jolene (Don) Conley of Madison; eight grandchildren, Genesis, Kelsey, Bradley, Dustin and Kayla Steinhorst, Bridget and Hannag Conley and Joshua Krayer; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Joachim and Marion Powers; and a brother, Martin Gurgel; as well as many other relatives.
Burial will be at oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom.
