-----
*The son of John & Mary "Polly" (Williamson) McCullough, he married Catherine Miller November 5, 1840, in Adams County, Pennsylvania, and fathered Mary E. (b. @1842), John Williamson (b. 01/28/47), and Emily A. L. (b. 11/18/51). In 1860, he was what appears to be a mail carrier (census is nearly impossible to read) living with his family in Dickinson Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Centerville, Cumberland County, August 24, 1861, and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg November 9 as a private with Co. I, 9th Pennsylvania Cavalry (92nd Pa). On November 9, 1861, he was promoted to captain, receiving the governor's commission effective December 10, 1861. He was mortally wounded in a skirmish at Moore's Hill near Tompkinsville, Monroe County, Kentucky.
