Anna Maria Brückl was the daughter of Daniel L. Brückl and Maria Rötzer and was born at Waldmuenchen [Waldmünchen], Kreis Cham, Bavaria, Germany. Her father and grandfather owned the brewery and tavern there. The family lived in Franklin Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin. While on the way to church, her father was fatally injured in a runaway in 1887. On October 1, 1877, Maria married Michael Rieder. They had two children: Michael and Anna (married to George Bergman). Maria died in 1887. A widow, Michael married his second wife Victoria Elia (or Ihle) on May 14, 1888, at Logan County, Arkansas.
