T.J. Kirkpatrick suddenly passed away at his home 5 miles west or Orland early yesterday morning. Death was caused by heart failure of which the deceased had been a sufferer for several years.
Mr. Kirkpatrick is one of the oldest residents of this county, having lived on his ranch west of Orland for the past 56 years having come here from Illinois in 1856 and engaged in the grain raising industry.
Tom J. Kirkpatrick was born in Sangeman county Ill. in the year 1833 and was but a young man when he came to this part of the Sacramento Valley.
He married Miss Margrette Ashurst who lived with her parents west of Orland and 8 children were born to them all of which are living except one.
He leaves a wife, four sons, Frank, Ed., Joe and Garfield Kirkpatrick, all of the Orland vicinity, three daughters, Mrs. Geo. Downen, Ms. E.T. Lathrope and Mrs. M.H. Lathrope.
The deceased had a host of friends in the Orland vicinity.

He was a mason, belonging to Orland Lodge No. 265.
The funeral will take place from his residence at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Drexler, of Willows, will preach the funeral sermon, and the remains will be placed in the Hambright burial grounds west of Orland.
