Mr. Bennett served in WWII and in the Korean War. After leaving the military, he worked for ten years as a file setter at the Hatler Lumber Company on Big Hill Road.
Among his survivors were his wife, Louise; two sons and a daughter; three sisters, Iva, Aubie and Ester; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
His mother's maiden name was Jones.
The Reverend James McCluskey of the Church of the 49ers in Columbia presided at the service. His ashes were interned in the Columbia City Cemetery.
