Nancy Jean Hodgson, 72, a lifetime resident of New Bethlehem, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday morning, Feb. 15, 2009, at her home.

Born Feb. 6, 1937, in Distant, she was the daughter of the late Clayton "Scruffy" Colwell and Lois Shumaker Colwell Davis.

She was married June 1, 1957, to Paul G. "Pete" Hodgson, who preceded her in death July 2, 2002. Mrs. Hodgson graduated from New Bethlehem High School in 1955. She belonged to the Bread of Life Church in Fairmount City, where her son pastored.

Mrs. Hodgson was an office manager for Crawford Furniture and retired from there due to poor health. She continued part-time with several businesses she conducted from her home. She was a member of the Nu-Be Rubee Red Hat Society in New Bethlehem.

Mrs. Hodgson was a vivacious, fun-loving individual who loved helping people and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. If she was needed, she was available. She also looked forward to the H.B. Colwell family reunion.

Mrs. Hodgson is survived by a son, Jeffrey Paul Hodgson of New Bethlehem; a sister, Eleanor Shaffer and her husband, Robert, of Knox; three brothers, Richard Colwell and his wife, Sue, of Rhode Island, Alfred Colwell and his wife, Janet, of Maryland, and George Fackender and his wife, Loretta, of New Bethlehem.

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; a dear friend, Pastor Fred Drayer of New Bethlehem; and her dog, Sweet Pea.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hodgson was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Fackender.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Alcorn Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church in New Bethlehem. A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Stanley Hickman officiating.

Interment will be in the New Bethlehem Cemetery in New Bethlehem.
