Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs Mary Edith Racine, 88, mother of Mrs Dale (Mary) Graham of Clarinda, at the Hackett Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Her death came July 13 at the Shenandoah hospital after several years of declining health.
Other survivors include another daughter, Mrs Floyd (Evelyn) Ruby of Shenandoah, son of C. Eugene Racine of Lynns, Colo; Elton Racine of Longmont, Colo, and Blaine Racine of Shenandoah, 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her brother is Willard Shelby of Chillicothe, Mo.
She was originally of Biggsville, Ill, daughter of Christopher B. and Mary Shelby, who came to Westboro, Mo, when she was a small child. In 1903 she was married to Albert L. Racine, and they farmed in the area south of Shenandoah, and later in the Clarinda and New Market areas.
Burial was in Snow Hill cemetery north of Coin. Bearers included Eldred Blackburn, Duland Farnsworth, Dean Hopkins and Clarence Racine. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Jul 20, 1972
