Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 9, at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Clarence, with Rev. F. J. Mittler officiating. Music by a Ladies quartet accompanied by Eleanor Conrad. Pallbearers were Arnold Pruess, John Hasenbank, Lee Freeman, Lorenz Hansen, J. E. Shriver and Elwood Kirkpatrick. Burial was in the Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.
Meta M. Baguss was born September 17, 1896, in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, on September 17, 1896, the daughter of Ferdinand and Anna Baguss. She was baptized in 1896 and confirmed in the St. Juergens Evangelical Lutheran Church of Flensburg, Germany. She immigrated with her parents and family to the United States in 1911 and settled on a farm near Wyoming. She married Ingwer Jacob Christophersen on February 18, 1920, in Wyoming. Together they farmed near Clarence. They were the parents of three children. She was a homemaker, a member of St. John's Church, the Women's Guild and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, Ingwer; one daughter, Helen Thies of Clarence; two sons, Alfred Christophersen of Oxford Junction and John Christophersen at home; two grandchildren, Michael and Kevin Thies; four brothers, John Baguss of Tipton, Anton Baguss of Wyoming, Ferdinand Baguss of Maquoketa and Herman Baguss of Cedar Rapids; and one aunt, Mrs. Boyd Feddersen.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
