U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Princeton College, in 1820, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Percivals, Virginia. He was a member of the Virginia State House of Delegates, (1824-28, 30-33). In 1833, he was elected as an Anti-Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress, serving until 1835. After his term he served as judge of the circuit court for the Brunswick County, Virginia, until his death at age 50.
