David Lawrence Wheeler, age 70 of Provo, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2002 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Springville on Sept 23, 1931 to Marie Griffiths and Lewis Wheeler. He married Marla Dee Frisby in Payson on Aug 17, 1955. David attended schools in Springville and graduated from Spanish Fork High. He served in the army during the Korean War. David worked in construction and for the Provo City Fire Department for 28 years ending his career as battalion chief. Dave en-joyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in the mountains with his family. He en-joyed watching sports, espe-cially the Utah Jazz and University of Utah. David was loving and sensitive and loved being with his family.

The Wheeler family is especially grateful for a special heart donor who allowed Dave to spend another 4 years with them.

Dave is survived by his wife, Marla of Provo; children, Larry of Orem, Karen (Cam) Brown of Provo, Bonnie (Ken) Jones of Provo, Linda (Tim) Moore of Provo, Alan (MyKel) Wheeler of Orem, and Dawna (Chance) Headman of Springville; also survived by 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three stepsisters, Evelyn (Keith) Warby of Ogden, Jeannette (Sonny) Snyder of Santaquin, and Vickie (Ray) Gerber of Payson. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother, Richard; and three sisters, Mary Lou Blackett, Margaret Barney, and Ann Marie Wheeler.

Services will be Wed. Aug 14, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Slate Canyon 5th Ward Chapel located at 1498 East 800 South in Provo. Friends and family may call Tues. evening from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville or Wed. one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery
