Born April 21, 1953, in New Bethlehem, she was a daughter of James (Dean) and Betty (Jean) Laughlin Bowersox of New Bethlehem. Mrs. Truitt was the Redbank Elementary School nurse.
She was a member of the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church and enjoyed horseback riding.
Mrs. Truitt was married July 31, 2005, to George William Truitt, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Julie Hagan and her husband, Dan, of Mayport and Jenny Sturgeon and her husband, Casey, of Mayport; one brother, James Bowersox and his wife, Mickey, of Shippenville; and one
sister, Jane Mercatoris and her husband, Gerry, of Brookville. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan Snyder, Sept. 14, 2006.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hawthorn United Methodist Church, Main Street, Hawthorn, with the Rev. Kate Reitz officiating.
Interment will follow in the North Freedom Cemetery, Jefferson County.
