CLAY CENTER (TNS) - H. M. Hanson, who had been a resident of this community for more than 50 years and was active in civic and business affairs, died Thursday in Harvard. He was 91 years of age.

Hanson was born and reared at Mount Pleasant, Ia., and was a city mail carrier there before coming in 1906 to Clay Center where he owned and operated a heating and plumbing business. He was Clay Center postmaster for 12 years, after which he operated the Hanson Furniture Store until his retirement in 1950.

He was a member of the Christian Church, the Chamber of Commerce and a 50-year member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges.

Survivors are his wife Stella; sons and daughters, Henry and Miss Grace Hanson of Clay Center, Floyd of Commerce, Tex., the Rev. Robert Hanson of Norfolk, Mrs. Paul Haines of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mrs. Will McClaran of Mount Pleasant, Ia., and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Christian Church and burial will be in Clay Center with the McLaughlin Funeral Home in charge. The Hanson family has suggested that tokens of sympathy and respect may take the form of gifts to the Memorial Fund of the church.
