Funeral Sunday for Mrs. Knox

Funeral for Mrs. Lula Day Quarles Knox, 80-year old native of Anderson County, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Elkhart Church of Christ. She died Saturday morning at her Elkhart home.
B.B. Campbell and Archie Waldrum will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrim Cemetery.
The daughter of the late W.Z. and Ann Day, Mrs. Knox was born January 14, 1872, and lived all her life in the county.
Pallbearers will include Bill Lively, Clint Bars, Albert Lee Easley, J.B. Parker, Eugene Bratz, and Bill Shelton.

Mrs. Knox is survived by five daughters; Mrs. D.R. Sheridan, Elkhart; Mrs. W.G. Dickey, Abilene; Mrs. W.L. Ellis, Crockett; Mrs. R.O. Lowrance, Houston; and Mrs. M.K. Hunter, Jr., Palestine; fifteen grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Frank Denson, Palestine.

She married Samuel Quarles and had the following children;
1. Ethel b. 1891 m. Dick Ross Sheridan.
2. Zelma b. 1893 m. Henry Franks
3. Iva b. 1895 m. Wilbern G. Dickey.
4. Eliza b. 1899
Samuel died and she remarried M.A. Knox.
Do not believe she had more children.

She has a double stone with first husband Samuel Quarles.
Her tombstone says Lula E. Day "Wife of Samuel Quarles and M.A. Knox"
