James Silas White was believed to have been born in Meriwether Co., GA and came to Alabama as a young man. After marrying Martha Wright in Tallapoosa Co., AL they moved to the Tuscaloosa/Fayette Co.(New Lexington area). He serve in the 50th AL Regt. Co.F of the CSA during the War Between the States. He also become a Deacon & Reverend in the local baptist church. He even served at a time as Pastor of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church. He and his wife Martha, who he had married in Tallapoosa Co. Alabama on 1st Feb 1849, had 7 children together, 6/daughters & 1/son.
