Although the burial place of Nathan Young (1749-1788) has not yet been confirmed (no readable stone found), it is most likely he is at rest in Gleason Cemetery, located on Gleason Rd., just above Meriden Village (now part of Plainfield Township, NH). His wife's parents (Obadiah Merrill and Hannah Joslyn Merrill) are buried here, as well as his son Joab Young's first wife (Esther Miner Young). It is a cemetery that would have been in close proximity to his home on the west side of Grantham Mountain. In his day, this area was part of Grantham/New Grantham, NH. A death notice for Nathan Young was printed in the "Vermont Journal" newspaper dated July 21, 1788. It reads as follows:

"On the 14th instant, as Nathan Young,
Esq. of Grantham, State of New Hampshire,
was at work covering a barn frame, a small
stick of timber fell from one of the beams &
hit him on the left side of his head, and
wounded him in such a manner that he ex-
pired the next day.---He has left a widow
and four children, to lament the loss of a kind
husband, and a tender parent; and the
public, a valuable member of society."
