Anthony, who resided at 215 West Seventh Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Sergeant, Company B, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division, U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps prior to the war on June 18, 1940.

Anthony was "Killed In Action" in the invasion of the Marshall Islands while serving in a tank ordaniance unit.

He had served in the Marines for three years and seven months at the time of his death. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
