Obituary - Under the regular head is announced the death of John W. Hamlin of East Aurora in this county. He was born in Berkshire county, in May 1806; came to Aurora in 1832 and went into business there as a merchant. He afterwards ingaged in the more conguianl pursuits of a farmer and stock traider. He was Justice of the Peace for several years and was one of the prominent men of the town in which he had lived for more than fourty-eight years. He died in the full possession of all his faculties at the good age of seventy-five. [Published in the "Buffalo Courier", Buffalo, New York, Tuesday, December 14, 1880, MDP, Page 25.]

Death of an old settler.
Mr. John W. Hamlin, an old and respected resident of East Aurora (NY), quietly passed awau on Tuesday morning last at the ripe old age of seventy-four years, honores and respected by all who knew him for his many sterling qualities. He was one of the pioneer settlers of the town, having resided there for over fourty-eight years. He was vorn in Berkshire County, Massachusetts on the 7th of December 1806, and came to Aurora in the spring og 1832. He was in business there for many years. Of late he had followed farmong and stock raising with marked success. He was a justice of the Peace and a prominent man in East Aurora for many years.
