Mr. John Otey Irby, II of 3059 Winns Creek Road, Halifax, Virginia died Monday, May 24, 2010 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County, Virginia May 26, 1937, and was 72 years of age. He was the son of the late John Noland Irby and Aileen Hines Irby and was married to Bettie F. Irby, who survives.

Mr. Irby was a member of Centerville Baptist Church and a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force.

Mr. John Otey Irby, II is survived by: his wife, Bettie F. Irby of Halifax, VA; two daughters, Deborah I. Morris and husband C. J. of Halifax, VA and Deanna I. Weatherford and husband Randy of Danville, VA; four sons, John M. "Matt" Irby and wife Wendy of South Boston, VA, James T. "Tim" Irby of South Boston, VA, David K. Irby of Halifax, VA, and Mark T. Irby and wife Mary Jo of Clover, VA; one brother,

Robert L. "Bob" Irby and wife Marian of Nathalie, VA; and ten grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. John Otey Irby, II will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Centerville Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd McClure, the Rev. Jimmy McMillen and the Rev. Ron Rhew officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, at Centerville Baptist Church from 7-8:30 P. M. and other times at the home 3059 Winns Creek Road, Halifax, Virginia
