Extract from an article from the "Appleton Post Crescent" of Appleton, Wisconsin dated 13 Jun 1976:
Marie Astyre is now Mrs. A. J. Bender, who, with her husband, runs music stores at Clinton, Ia., and Sterling, Ill., from a 600 acre farm. She edited two campus publications while at Lawrence and went as personnel director to Marathon Corp., the first woman in the Fox Valley to hold such a post.

Obituary:
Astyre Bender funeral Tuesday
Astyre H. Bender, 66, of Route 3, Clinton, died Saturday in Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, following an extended illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Grace episcopal Church with the Rev. John I. Kilby officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m today in Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Traxler, David Gaulrapp, Samuel French, Charles Stoltenberg, Al Burch and Louis Knockel.
Mrs. Bender was born Oct. 28, 1922, in Appleton, Wis., to Frank J. and Marie Rasmussen Hammer. She married Glenn Cole, June 1, 1945, in Berkley, Calif. He died in 1960. She later married Arthur J. Bender, Dec. 8, 1961, in Clinton. He died in 1981. She was the owner and operator of Bender Music Center, Clinton, and was president of Bender and Block Music Company of Sterling, IL.
She received her BA degree in psychology from Lawrence University, Appleton, Wis.
Mrs. Bender was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, where she had held offices of senior warden, junior warden, treasurer and chairman of the Committee on Church Growth. She was a long-time member of the Commission on Ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Iowas overseeing candidates for ordination, and was active in the Cursillo Movement.
She was a member of Clinton Chapter order of Eastern Star No. 65, and was the first honored queen of Job's Daughters of Appleton, Wis.; she was a member of National Association of Music Merchants, Clinton High School Band Boosters, River Cities Chamber of Commerce and the Alpha Delta Pi Alumni Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Star) Muni of Bartonville, Ill.; three sons, Neil G. Bender of Janesville, Wis., Curt G. Bender of Clinton, and Brent D. Bender of Clinton; nine grandchildren; two stepsons, Lyle J. Bender of Clinton, and Dan J. Bender of Goose Lake; seven stepgrandchildren; a sister, Mrs. David (Alice) Smith of Janesville, Wis.; and a brother, Dr. Frank J. Hammer Jr. of Arlington, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

She married (1) Glenn Harry Cole 1 Jun 1945 in Berkeley, Alameda, California.
She married (2) Arthur Joseph Bender 8 Dec 1961 in Clinton, Clinton, Iowa.
