She was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Madison, Wis., a daughter of the late Fred R. and Frances Kelly Lee. She was married to Gerhard J. Drechsler on April 12, 1945, the day President Roosevelt died.
She was a member of the University of Wisconsin Class of 1950. She and her Foreign Service husband lived in France, Germany, Washington, D.C., and in 1975 retired to Bryce Resort, Va., where her husband established Mount Hermon Vineyard, Winery and Restaurant and she opened a real estate office, Drechsler Realty Inc., which she operated for 17 years before retiring in 1992. They were involved in the founding of the Roman Catholic Chapel, Our Lady of the Shenandoah, which was dedicated at Bryce on April 10, 1976.
Gerhard J. Drechsler preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2003.
She is survived by one son, Richard Lee Drechsler of Morristown, N.J.; one daughter, Linda Lee Hudson and husband, Stacy, of Harrisonburg; two granddaughters, Audrey Ann Harrer and Angela Frances Harrer, both of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; and one sister, Marion Kramer, and a niece, Nancy Paul, both of Wisconsin.
Her body was cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel in Harrisonburg. A Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Father Tom Mattingly and Father Jonathan Goertz officiating.
