Charles D. "Chuck" Fontaine, 67, Minot died peacefully Thursday, June 3, in his home in Minot.

Charles D. Fontaine was born April 10th, 1943, son of A.J. and Gladys (Nelson) Fontaine, of Crookston, MN, where he was raised and educated. He Graduated from UND; obtaining a degree in Social Work and furthered his education, receiving his Master's Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia.

On June 7, 1965, Chuck was united in marriage to Mary Kathleen Monley, in Grand Forks, ND.

Chuck was the director of Child Care at Dakota Boys Ranch for 22 years. He's had many former "kids" call to thank him for his support during those difficult years in their lives. He was an instructor at Minot State University in the Social Work Department for 4 years. He has been retired since that time.

He was a generous man, who was enormously talented. He took carving classes from expert carvers who came to the Norsk Hostfest. Through that experience he built and carved many gifts which he gave to friends and family. He learned the art of incorporating leaded glass into cabinetry.

Chuck loved a good conversation and liked to debate issues. He was the greatest joke teller. His memory was phenomenal! He enjoyed gourmet cooking.

He is survived by his wife, Katie of Minot, and two children; son, Steve (Traci) Fontaine of Spokane, WA; daughter, Jennifer (Dan) Cepress of Maple Lake, MN., and three grandchildren; Lauren, Luke, and Olivia Cepress.

Sisters Linda (Billy) LaVigne, Red Lake Falls, MN., Margaret (Siegfried "Ziggy") Blondeel, Straffordville, Ontario, and nephews Trevor Blondeel, Brandt Lafave and Niece Shanna Engelstad.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Gladys and Adelard Fontaine, and Gale Lerum.

Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
