David Wayne Procter, 85, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2010. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his family dearly and served and cared for them all his life. In turn, he is dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

He was born March 10, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Richard Howson and Mary Sara (Nichols) Procter.

He married Laura Frenette on November 20, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Wayne attended Riverside, Jordan Jr., West High, and the University of Utah. He served his country in World War II in the 7th Air Force. He was the top turret gunner in a B-24 and flew combat missions in the South Pacific, including Iwo Jima. He escaped a serious crash where he gained his testimony of prayer and the Holy Ghost.

Wayne was a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for thirty-four years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in MIA, Sunday School, Elders Quorum, Bishopric, and High Priests Quorum. As Scoutmaster, he was a wonderful teacher, friend and example to the young men. Wayne was a builder and built the family home. He also worked on many other homes.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; daughter, Peggy Babcock; son, David F. Procter (Susanne); daughter, Jayne Jensen; daughter-in-law, Diane Thomas Procter; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Keith; son-in-law, David Babcock; granddaughter, Adrienne Babcock; parents; brother, John; and sister, Lucille.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 18, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. in the Salt Lake Twenty-Sixth Ward Chapel, 1145 West 500 South. Friends and family may visit on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Friday.
