Temperance Phinney Rogers was the daughter of Gershom & Rebekak Griffith Phinney of Harwich, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Temperance married Benjamin Rogers before 6 Dec. 1763. Temperance was a descendant of Mayflower Pilgrim Thomas Rogers thru her father.

From the last will and testament of Benjamin Rogers written in 1812, he mentioned his children: John, Rebecha (Waite), Temperance (Goodwin), Naomi, and Abner who d. 10-06-1774 married to Lucinda Record, (Reckard) who moved to OHIO. There is a Temperance Rogers died 1868 who was married to Anson Goodwin. They have in the record, (wife of Gershom to be Abigail King Rogers remarried to Abner Cranston).

Hill Cemetery is the Congregational Church Cemetery but no interment for Temperance or Benjamin Rogers. In fact, Benjamin left the Church before his death.
