The son of Alfred and Julie Huggins Kelley, he was born Dec. 1, 1896 in Texas County, Missouri. He married Ida May Boyer Jan. 3, 1915. To this union 12 children were born; six sons and six daughters. He is survived by his wife, Ida; five sons, Leo (29135954) of Cabool, Mo., Russell, Herschel and Dennis of Unionville, Iowa and Norman of Whittier, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Edith Robertson of Graff, Mo., Mrs. Opal Hart of Mountain Grove, Mo., Mrs. Ursie Moore of Houston, Mo., Mrs. Nadine Dommer and Mrs. Fern Horn of Moravia.
Also surviving are two brothers, Ben of Arkansas and George of California; 40 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Services were held on Wednesday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Woodin. Burial in the Hillcrest Cemetery with the Turner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Six grandsons served as pallbearers, Robert Hart, Eddie Moore, Sherman Kelley, Roger Kelley, Lynn Robertson and Michael Dommer with other grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers, Delane and Gary Moore, Hubert Hart, Mark Kelley, Randy and Phillip Dommer and Jeff Kelley.
A memorial was established payable to the American Cancer Society.
