Note: a white woman... story in "Trail of Tears" p. 162 An auburn-haired New England girl with blue eyes and a gracious manner. John fell in love with her when she was 14. She was 16 when they married. After John RIDGE was assassinated she took her children across the border into AR abandoning the estate she and John had built. (See p. 379 of "Trail of Tears".)
