Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 30, for Hefley "Hank" Stovall, 64, of Vidalia, a native of Winn Parish. He died Tuesday afternoon, June 29, 1971, after an apparent heart attack earlier in the day.

[The] son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Logan L. [sic J.] Stovall of Dodson, he owned the Hank Stovall Real Estate Company in Vidalia. He gained recognition years ago as an LSU football great.

Services were held at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Laird's in Natchez with the Rev. Bill Whaley officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Opal Taylor Stovall, Vidalia; a sister, Mrs. F. H. DeLoach, Winnfield.

Pallbearers were Col. L. T. Godfrey, Harry Rabenhorst, Dr. Gene Taylor, Dr. Donald DeLoach, Stephen Williamson, Billy Taylor, and Johnny Taylor.

Stovall was born and grew up at Dodson in Winn Parish. He played football on the school team and went on to LSU where he was voted most valuable player in 1928.

After graduating from LSU, Stovall entered the coaching field at Baton Rouge High School, where he coached all sports. From there he went to Louisville, Ky., to coach and later took his team back to Baton Rouge to play New Britain, Conn. for the national championship. The
Stovall-coached team won.

Stovall served in the Air Force during World War II, rising to the rank of major, and returned to this area after the war. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He entered the real estate business in Jonesville and later moved to Vidalia.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Opal Taylor Stovall of Vidalia, two sisters, Mrs. F. H. DeLoach of Winnfield, Mrs. William Horton of Pensacola, Florida, and two brothers, Lloyd Stovall of Hammond, La., and Tom Stovall of Alexandria.
