She was named Rebecca after her paternal grandmother, but she always went by her middle name, Alice.

She married David S. Underwood on July 5, 1906. F. G. Radabaugh performed the ceremony in Wilbur. The marriage license states that the bride was 35 and the groom was 28 at the time. However, based upon the bride's date of birth she would have actually been 37 years of age.

Her great nephew shares the following story: Alice's husband was a gas & oil driller and made good money. But, Alice didn't like being so far away from the area she grew up in and from her family and friends, she also did not like the company-provided housing; she didn't feel safe. Although Dave bought her a pistol and taught her to shoot, she still wanted to move back to her old home and farm on Piggin Run. Her husband decided to quit his lucrative job and move back to the home they had left, returning to farming and selling vegetables from the back of their truck. Alice was finally happy. Alice and Dave never had any children of their own, but she always loved children and opened her home to her great nephew who spent many a weekend visiting them.

Some more memories shared by another of her great nephews: She used a willow branch as her "snuff brush" instead of using her fingers to "pinch" her snuff and he never saw her spit the juice, she swallowed it. She made homemade biscuits for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which were huge.

She was 80 years old when she died. Her death certificate states her death was due to myocarditid, caused by arterio-sclerosis and hypertension. She also suffered from neuritis, artirits (this is how it was spelled on the death certificate) and senility. The informant was Dave Underwood.
