Taking the place of his brother who, had stalled with ta load of scantlings, Jess Garrard was instantly killed on Tuesday by yhe truck upsetting and the load of lumber piling out on him and crushing his head.
Jess Garrard was running a mill near the Whitehouse in Marion County and was the sawyer but went to help his brother. He took the wheel but the hindwheels stucka low stump that caused the accident.. He was about 20 yerars old and a son of Henry Garrard the cotton buyer.
He had brought a load of lumber to town that same morning and had only just returned to the mill.
