Henry Beenken came to America in the late 1870's and settled in Belmond, Iowa where he worked for different farmers.About 1882 he came to Ramsey Township near the village of Ramsey. He purchased 160 acres in Section 12, which is now owned by Wence Vodraska. In 1884 he married Grace Pals of Belmond, To this union six children were born; George,Peter,Hattie, Jelto, Warner and Hans. Grace passed away in 1899.
In 1901 Henry married Caroline Long of Algona, Iowa. To this union seven children were born; Donald, Henry"Fritz", Lottie(Mrs. Rank Meinders), Heiko, Eugene, Helmer and Elizabeth(Mrs. Raymond Edwards).
Henry lost his land in the Depression years and moved to Titonka where he passed away in 1932.
