Nettie McCarty, daughter of James D. and Elizabeth McCarty, was born in Hamilton
County, February 20th 1882, and departed this life in the Good Samaritan
hospital, in Kokomo, Indiana May 12, 1925, Aged, 43 years, 2 months and 22 days.

She was united in marriage to James B. Shoemaker, December, 29, 1901. To this
union was born two sons Cecil and Ralph, one daughter, Lois. About one year and
a half ago, little Mary Catherine Richard was left by the death of her mother
when Mrs. Shoemaker with true motherly instinct, opened her arms and her big
heart and extended welcome to the motherless babe to the hospitality of her home
and to her love. And has since cared for her as a true mother.

Dr. and Mrs. Shoemaker resided in Nobelsville, until 1913, when with their
family they moved to Miami, where she has won the friendship of all who knew
her.

She was united with the United Brethern church, at Bethleham in Hamilton county
when 15 years of age and has always been an attendant at Sunday school. After
moving to Miami, she transferred her membership to the Methodist Episcopal
church there. She was always ready to do what she could for the good of the
church and all concerned, she was the preachers friend, and her doors were
always open, and hospitality welcome to him as well as to all who come to her.
She was at the time of her demise the teacher of the boys class in the Sunday
school, and was loved by all.

She leaves to mourn her death, the husband, three children, little Mary
Catherine, and aged father, three brothers: Henry McCarty, of Michigan; Lewis of
Noblesville; Walter, of Texas; two sisters, Levina Johnson, of Kingman; Lula
Brown, of Noblesville. One sister Lydia Brown is deceased her two children
Violet and Hubert survive and a host of other relatives and friends, who will
never forget her smiling face and kindly deeds.

Dr. Shoemaker and children are profoundly grateful to all who have helped to
bear our burden and great sorrow; And desire to sincerely thank all for the
thoughtfulness in the effort which has been made to change the death scene to a
resurrection morning by the beautiful floral tributes you have presented. Also
to Doctors Rohrer and Noble for their heroic efforts to save the life of our
dear one, and to the Good Samaritan hospital and nurses, Miss Moss, Miss Reamon
and Mrs. Spurgeon, for their untiring service and care.
