Arlen R. Adamson 1933 ~ 2006

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Arlen Ray Adamson, 73, passed away at home on December 10, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Arlen was born the fifth of seven children to Byron and Maud Adamson in Pleasant Grove, Utah, on September 21, 1933. He grew up in Pleasant Grove where he spent his childhood on the family farm near the mouth of Grove Creek Canyon. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1951 and then joined the Navy serving during the Korean War from 1952-1956. Upon his release from military service he married his sweetheart Janice Spainhower on November 8, 1957 and they had three children. The marriage was later solemnized and the family was sealed together for eternity on June 19, 1975 in the Provo Temple.

Arlen worked at Geneva Steel for over 30 years, retiring in 1984. He then worked for Alpine School District for 12 years. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and family reunions. Spending time with family and friends, especially in the outdoors, was the joy of his life. He could always be found sitting in a chair whittling something for the grand kids, reading family histories, or telling a great story. His sense of humor will really be missed. Arlen wasn't overly concerned about obtaining the material things in life. He took very good care of what he had. He could always be found fixing something or otherwise tinkering around, and it was usually focused on helping someone else. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest, has served in various scouting positions, and was a faithful home teacher.

Arlen is survived by his wife, Janice, and children Brad (Suzanne) Adamson of Orem, Cyndie (Tim) Stephens of Kaysville, Judie (Kent) Iverson of Lehi, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Virginia (Leo) Ault of Pleasant Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mariam and Janice, and brothers Grant, Boyd, and Nyle.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 15th, at 1:00 p.m. in the American Fork 20th Ward (Stake Center) located at 825 E. 500 N. in American Fork. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary at 49 E. 100 N. in American Fork, and at the church prior to the services from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery with military rites. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and Hearts for Hospice for their kindness and care.
