Melvin Dale Kugler, the youngest son of Frank and Anna (Whitmer) Kugler, was born on May 6, 1926 at Alma, Nebraska. He passed away on January 27, 2006 at Enterprise Estates Nursing Home in Enterprise, Kansas at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 21 days.

Melvin was a graduate with the class of 1944 at Superior High School, Superior, Nebraska. He served his country in the Marines during WW 11 and Korea. Melvin was united in marriage to Wilma Bargen on January 1, 1948 and two this union was born two sons, Douglas and Jeffrey. He was a sales representative for the Ford Motor Company and retired from Long-McCarthur Ford of Salina, Kansas as Truck Manager in 1980.

After retirement he and Wilma moved to a farm in the Mankato, Kansas area. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church near Superior, Nebraska and a member of the
VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Katie, sisters, Doris Farrand and Francis Hamilton and brothers, Howard and Rex Kugler.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma of Abilene, Kansas, sons, Douglas and wife Marg of Abilene, Kansas and Jeffrey and wife Joan of York, Nebraska, three grandchildren, Lara Nichols of Pocatello, Idaho, Jenni Christiansen of Lincoln, Nebraska and Daniel Kugler of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Seven great-grandchildren and one sister Betty Reed of Superior, Nebraska along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Klawonn officiating. Music was a congregational hymn, "Holy, Holy, Holy", and "Take My Hand Precious Lord" was sung by Alisha Ferguson with Carlita Erickson as Organist.

Pallbearers were Bob Kugler, Roger Kugler, Randy Kugler, Calvin Kugler, Mike Kugler, and Tom Bargen.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
