David Thomas Shoemaker, son of Andrew B Shoemaker and Evelyne Baker, was born near Beattyville, Kentucky, February 29, 1872, and departed this life at his home in South Lebanon, May 4, 1928. He was one of a family of 10 children. He lived all his life near Beattyville, until about 13 years ago, when he removed with his family to South Lebanon, where he had since resided. For some time he had been in business at this place where he made many acquaintances and friends to whom his early and sudden calling was a shock. On October 3, 1893 he was united in Marriage to Miss Phoebe Vanderpool. To this union nine children were born, two dying in infancy. He was a devoted husband and a kind and loving husband. He is survived by his widow, two sons and five daughters, as follows: Nellie, now Mrs. John Rowland, and Troy of this place. Fred of Cincinnati, Lola, now Mrs. Joseph Shurts of Kings Mills, and Beulah, Laura and Mae at home; also six grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters. (May 17, 1928 Western Star)
