Son of Edward M. Marvel and Hannah B. Tyre Marvel.

Roland, who resided at 2306 Locust Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Sergeant with Company E, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Seventh Army, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on August 19, 1943 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a welder and also as being Married.

He "Died Of Wounds" received in action at Nuremberg, Germany during the war in a Hospital in England.

He had served in the Army for one year and ten months at the time of his death and was decorated with the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
